running a Home Run to bypass your in home wiring. You can do it yourself or have a Verizon tech do it for you. A home run will fix you problem if your problem is your in home wiring. A home run is a dedicated line (cat3 or 5) from your nid to your modem.
I just installed Verizon DSL. My signal is intermittant (DSL light on the modem goes on and off). Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. The problem began when my alarm company hooked up my alarm system to the phone line (yes, they installed a DSL splitter). I have DSL filters on all of my devices. Verizon seems to believe that the problem is in my home (noisy line, etc.). Has anyone used a DSL splitter - which supposedly (according to websites selling the device) separates the DSL line from my voice lines at the NID (where the telephone line connects to my home)? Specifically, would it eliminate noise caused by old wiring, shorts, etc. in my internal wiring? Thanks.
