drwatson???

Aug 29, 2007 2:48AM PDT

I've got a Dell XPS 400 running XP Media edition w/IE-7.

While linking to and fro from different net sites drwatson frequently encounters problems requiring it to shut down.

I don't understand this because sometimes I can later exercise the same maneuver, site to site, link to link, with no problem. Also some sites seem more vulnerable to shutdown than others.

Since i don't really understand the value of this drwatson feature I would like to know if I could just delete it or somehow desensitize it. I find it more of a pain than a benefit.

Thanks for looking.

I believe I screwed up the original post on tis subject.

Where I had written that "drwatson frequently encounters problems" i had meant that IE frequently encounters problems requiring it to shut down. Then IE creates an error report and drwatson comes into play.

Sorry.

Dr Watson

If you are getting frequent Dr Watson errors this is indicative of a problem elsewhere. In your case it looks like it is IE that is causing the problems.

With IE the problem could be caused by malware, (viruses, or spyware), or by BHO's, (Browser Helper Objects). I would first remove all of your BHO's from IE and see if that helps. Google will tell you more about BHO's.

If it doesn't, then I would update and scan with your anti-virus and anti-spyware utilities, and as a double check take an online anti-virus scan here, http://housecall.trendmicro.com

And then an online anti-spyware scan here, http://www.ewido.net/en/

Remove everything they find.
