Question

Dropping wireless

Aug 15, 2013 3:46PM PDT

I own a Samsung Gamer 7. A big beast. Do not use it for gaming but needed the power. Have been very frustrated in that it keeps losing my wireless or saying 'Limited'. This is not true as all my kids have laptops, our phones are wireless etc and none lose the wireless. Samsung have been of NO help. Any ideas on why the samsung loses wireless connection?
Thanks!

Answer
My Samsung RC512 did that out of the box.

But I didn't ask Samsung because I answer too many questions like this and you can bet I know to go check out the maker's site for driver updates.

Which makes us all ask why such is not always automated. The driver update button is a laugh, most others are broke most of the time so this is why I do the check on my own.

Try that?

driver done

I think I have updated the driver. Samsung suggested this but offered no advice on how and trying to find the driver and update was difficult (for me). Still not really sure if I have done it correctly. Still dropping wireless however.

If this is that bad. Return as defective.

Given the story, why keep this one?

Have had the computer for a year. Bought in the US now living in Switzerland so not easy to return. Problem began shortly after upgrading to Win 8.

Last ideas.

These are ideas and without reservation to skills or saying it will fix it but tossing them out as possible cures.

1. Execute the warranty anyway.
2. Hit www.samsungparts.com and replace the wifi card.
3. Clean the machine with the usual canned air.
4. Unplug the antenna leads on the wifi card and plug them back in.
5. Use an external USB WiFi adapter.
