It could be a hard drive error. If that hit the test bench I'd slip in a new blank drive and load the machine up from it's restore media.
The old drive would be put into some USB case for the owner to attempt to get their files out.
Bob
ok so im running vista home premium on my laptop and i recently dropped it, it fell on my couch less than 2 feet but the battery fell out. The computer turns to the "windows error recovery" screen and asks if i want to "launch start up repair" or "start windows normally". if i pick "launch start up repair" the next screen says "windows loading files" and when the white bar fills up, it goes to the "microsoft corporation" screen then the screen goes black. If i pick "start windows normally" it goes straight to the "microsoft corporation" window then the screen goes black.
I tried taking out the battery and plugging the ac adaptor only as it says in other posts, but thats not working. i also opened it up to see if there was anything loose inside. please let me know if there are other things i can do. My warranty is already up.
Thanks
