Question

Dropped HDMI Signals

I recently purchased a Samsung plasma PN59D550 TV, a Samsung Blu Ray BD D6500, a Onkyo HT R590 receiver and a Cisco PVR Model 8642. I have no problems watching the Blu Ray, but when I switch to the Cisco PVR, I get a brief loss of video and audio signals every few minutes minutes . I have replaced the PVR and the HDMI cables but the problem remains. I have also tried using different HDMI ports without any improvement. I have been told that the problem might be related to HDCP issues, although all components are new and should meet current standards. The cable company has determined that the signal strength is good. Any help with this problem is appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion. I ran an HDMI cable directly to the TV from the PVR and continued to get dropped signals, although far fewer than when routed through the receiver. Could the problem be with the PVR itself?

I also think the problem is with the PVR and the HDCP sensitivity. However, both the video and audio signals get dropped. I will ask for another box replacement (the third). Don't know when new firmware might be available... they keep promising, but no date as yet. I may have to go with a component video cable to avoid the dropped signals. Hopefully that won't degrade the picture quality too much. Thanks for your help.
