In fact, we recommend turning off even the driver updates included in Windows update. Do you know how to do that?
I often get the ad to advertise getting "drivers' update". I'm not computer savvy; so I'm not sure...should I get it?

No I do not know how to turn off the driver updates included in windows 10 updates. Will you tell me please? I will need step by step instructions as I get lost easily with technical things.
It depends on what version of Windows 10 you have: Home or Pro (or Education or Enterprise maybe?).
But https://www.google.com/search?q=windows+10+turn+off+driver+updates will be able to tell you. If confused, add home or pro to the list of keywords.
There are companies dedicated to selling folk on updating drivers. We never update a working driver without good reason.
...of those AOL emails that promise to clean up and secure your PC? Of course it's aimed at windows users, not me, but curious if anyone actually used their offer?
AOL or otherwise, it seems that folk new to all this fall for it most often.
They've been sending ads to all AOL and now Verizon email customers.

For Ransomware, then also send another "speed up your computer".

did you installed a driver update software? such as Driver Booster, Driver Easy or Driver Agent? All of these software will remind you to update the drivers when there is a driver should updated for your computer.
You can ignore them, only when you are missing drivers or upgrade the system. Of course, you can uninstall them.
No I've not downloaded any of those. This computer is new to me so I've not done much of anything to it...just trying to understand it as I came from a Windows XP version.
