Drivers for monitor

Mar 1, 2004 11:01PM PST

I'm trying to get the driver's for a LCD NEC monitor into Win 98 and I can't seem to do it. The add program won't see it anywhere I put it. I got the driver off the web for the monitor. I haven't had to use any driver software for my XP programs, they have the drivers, but 98 doesn't. It didn't come with any software either. Any help here?

Are rarely required. Usually the common call for help is the video display is 16 or 256 colors. Some go for a monitor driver, but what they really want is the DISPLAY CARD driver.

If you have obtained the driver mentioned, you can try from the device manager under monitor, open properties, then click update driver, then use either the media you stored the driver on, or if it is stored in a file on your hard drive, point it to the inf file (Looks like a white sheet of paper with a yellow gear in the center), then click ok, it should load the driver, or as an additonal suggestion, copy the inf file into your X:\Windows\INF directory (X= your local drive parameter), which you can also perform the driver update in that manner, then pointing the path to the windows\inf, and it will also load the driver.
