driver sw for Bell+Howell

Jul 28, 2004 3:00AM PDT

I resently perchased a new compter with Widows XP on it. and when I tried to load the sw for a Bell + Howell BH-10 camera, it said that it did not have the right configuration (certification) for xp...

I have tried to contack the Jazz company, but their customer support mail page is defective (no phone numnber is availible). I have looked at DriverGuide.com and their updated drivers aren't so updated as I still get that error message...

does anyone have any suggestions for this? I would like to see if I can get this thing operational if possible..I"m trying to stave off purchasing a new camera for just a little longer..

thanks

Kat

Hi again Bob,

Yes I did see that,(same site) but I thought it was the wrong one because its says "BH-21 and others", the one that is listed for "BH-10" specifically has the same problem that my instalation CD has.

Could I use the one for BH-21???

I am getting a message that says "this software has components that are not certified XP, continuing installation can cause problems with your operating software now or in the future." (its not verbatum, but close to it)

I have tried to email Jazz Photo Inc. several times but their email seems to be "invalid".

Thanks
Kat

Looks like you can't use it.

Here's why.

No one will pay to get the XP Certification. It costs money, and since the unit is out of production, no one will pay.

So if you don't want a non-certified driver, then all I can share is that you should stop looking for this driver now.

And do try that driver, then report back if you want to try. If you don't want to try, I'm unsure what to do.

well I could try it, my only consern here is this, "its my understanding that certification on an OS, is to insure that the driver/sw is compatible with it, and there is no conflict".. (I could be wrong on that) I am willing to try it, but am also kind of worried about having to redue the OS if it doesn't work..

if it were you (given your expericance with computers and sw) would you try this? or would you just give up and get a new camera? (I'm just looking for opinions and information, I know the final desision is up to me and I'll be responcible for it)

Thanks for your time

Then it's over.

No one will pay to certify the driver. It's not free. Microsoft does some tests and you get a "signature" to let the driver install. Again, no one's paying since the product line is not producing revenue.

Maybe it's time to Ebay that camera?

I have the same camera and WINXP Professional and have no problems with it...I don't recall getting that message but if did I hit "continue with installation anyway" have you tried that???

Just my 2 cents

I have a BH 41 and have the CD/driver that came with it, but got that doom warning when I attempted to install it, so I stopped the installation. What could happen if I continued anyway??
