Driver not loading ntkern.vxd

Jul 29, 2004 7:39AM PDT

I just got a new pci diamond modem v92 56k. But unfortunately it seems that things have gone wrong somehow. I do it as the manual says. But yet the device doesnt want to work, it says in the device manager "the ntkern.vxd device loader(s) for this device could not load the device driver (code 2)" It goes on to say to update the driver. I dont really know what else to do, ive been all across the web, trying to figure it out posted at multiple sites sent a email to diamond, but nothing substantial. Im using an old dell dimension xps pro 200n with pentium pro running at 200mhz with 64 megs of ram. I just upgraded from win 95 to windows 98se. It seems that the only thing left for me to do is to format hard drive and reinstall windows. Any help is muchly appreciated.

Just sharing that my old dual Pentium Pro didn't accept any WinModem. So I hooked up an external modem to the serial port.

Maybe you have the wrong modem type?

Aren't those things slow, dont really want any thing external. Is there anything i should know that could make this thing run? Any tips or tricks, is what im referring to. You search around for an answer online and it seems that nobody really know the answer, some say this works others disagree and say no this is the way to fix it. And microsoft will say either update your os or reinstall it. This is kinda depressing. Please help.

You had a dual pentium pro, awesome!!!
