Question

Driver DL for ethernet port on Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook

Jul 3, 2016 11:53AM PDT

I recently sold this laptop to a close friend with a weirdly partitioned WIN 8. He "fixed" it by wiping and installing WIN 7 home. Somewhere along the line, the laptops drivers were wiped (with the exception of bluetooth?). I typically use IOBIT's driver booster to restore drivers, but the laptop's ethernet port doesnt respond when a cable is connected and thus, no internet.

All of this aside, my question is: Where can I find the ethernet driver for a Samsung series 5 Ultrabook?

Always supply exact model or link to it.

I can't check into this. Samsungs are different on drivers. A few use Sasmung's own app to finish up the install of drivers and newer models will never get other than the factory OS drivers. This has lead to some folk exploding.

thanks for pointing that out.
the model number is: NP540U3C

Im looking for a way to get the drivers on a usb drive if possible. I cant really run any updates on it without being able to connect, but I can get most of it done pretty quickly if I could get it to recognize the ethernet. Troubleshooting glosses over it entirely.

When you say "folk exploding"... is that a metaphor, or have devices actually blown up?

I looked at the link below and no drivers for download. This is that new breed of laptops that the makers expect us to run the factory issued OS and nothing else.

As to explode I meant the owner loses their temper.

Time to call Samsung and ask how to handle the other than factory OS install.

Try http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads

But if it came with Windows 8, there's a good chance there will be no support for Windows 7. Then try to install the Windows 8 driver. If no luck, you might be able to install Windows 10 (free until July 29, using the original Windows 8 product key).

In this case I'm going to share a tricky driver updater and just like Tim the Enchanter say "I WARNED YOU!" and leave it at that.

Take a gamble with SlimDrivers. Be sure to be very careful on what you click and you might avoid the adware. I used it before on a machine I could wipe and retry and came away unscathed but I was no where near Caerbannog.
