Driver Blocked Due to Compatibility Issues

Feb 8, 2007 1:09AM PST

My new Vista program is possessed with a demon file that I cannot get rid of regardless of numerous attempts.

On start-up a window entitled ?Program Compatibility Assistant? appears with the following message:
This driver is blocked due to compatibility issues.

The driver identified is: ?Driver: Sonic Solutions DLA?

What is worse is that this window keeps popping up frequently as I attempt to work. (?Yes, I know you?re there; just leave me alone? is my response.)

I have tried to remove this offending driver through the Vista remove programs process without success. It apparently was installed by DELL on my computer at the factory along with other files associated with Sonic Solutions? Roxio Creator ? My DVD Combo.

I do not use the program.

Every time Vista loads, this annoying pop-up window appears with the message that the driver is blocked due to incompatibility issues. No help is available on line when one selects the ?Check for solutions online? option. The answer given is that ?Windows will notify you when solutions become available.? The first thought is that this solution will appear along about the time donkeys fly.

Is there a way to remove this file?

Thank you.

If that's a Dell computer...Nero Imagedrive
Mar 4, 2009 3:04PM PST

Thanks a million Mate!! it worked on mine.. only after religiously going through the whole thread. I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 and had this annoying Incompatibility error problem with Nero Imagedrive manufactured by Ahead for the last 6 months.

This message goes out to all the non-dells and Roxio users etc!!

Best wishes!!

msconfig
Jul 22, 2007 4:18AM PDT

hey,

Have you tried going to run msconfig going to the services tab and selecting hide microsoft services and then unchecking things from there from loading at the starup. Also next go to the startup tab and deselect everything in there that you do not want to load at the startup. That should fix your problem

cd software driver blocked
Apr 25, 2008 10:31AM PDT

I keep getting the driver blocked message but the driver isn't the one everyone in this thread has mentioned. Mine says:
Driver: CD recording software.
Publisher: Roxio.Inc

I tried the 32bit patch but it said it couldn't find software.
I also deleted the kb......... patch in windows and that made no difference.

I know this is a super old thread but I am hoping someone can help me as it is bugging me.

I am running Nero 8 which says it isn't compatible but works anyway. I used to have Easy Media Creator(not sure which version) on an old pc and put it on this one (this one came with vista basic) but it had compatibility probs so I unistalled it all.

If anyone can help I will truly be grateful as this really bugs me.

cheers
Kelli

Looks Like Parts Of Roxio Are Still There..
Apr 26, 2008 6:42AM PDT

Try removing the upper and lower filters which may remain despite uninstalling Roxio's Easy Media Creator. See the link below.:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

(Yes, I know it refers to XP but Vista has been showing the same thing.. If the upper/lower filters registry entries remain, you need to clean them up per the link above.)

Hope this helps.

dnt try the 32bit or 64 bit patch...click on the patch below mentioned for DELL Customers
For Dell Customers

The patch is not intended for a customer base other than Dell. If you do not own a Dell system, it is being offered "as is" and to be used at your own risk.

To download and install the Roxio DLA Update:

Click here for the DLA patch. When the file Download window appears, click Run. Note: If a Security Warning window appears, Click Run.
Follow the installer's on-screen instructions.
When prompted to restart your computer, click Yes.
The computer restarts, and the update is complete.

Sonic Solutions DLA
Feb 8, 2009 5:04AM PST

I was getting the same error message and it was causing all sorts of problems on my VAIO AR190. I decided to contact Sony online Tech Support and they told me it was caused by Sony Stage. I looked for an update to Sonic Stage, downloaded it and so fat the problem has gone away. Check and see if you have Sonic Stage and update it. The update was free and I found it using MSN search.

Update to my previous msg about this. After I turned off my laptop and turned it back on the error came back, so I looked for a Vista version of Sonic Stage and found it at http://sonicstage.uptodown.com/en/. So far so good. After you install it, cold start your computer several times to see if the error comes back.

Driver Blocked Due to Compatibility issue
Mar 18, 2009 10:16AM PDT

A short time ago I lost all sound to my computer which is Dell Dimension E520 using Vista. In attempting to rectify the problem I tried Uninstalling some programmes and then reinstalling them. One of the programmes was Roxio. Since then I have been having the above message coming up each time I start up. The roxio was supplied with the computer.

I have CA Anti- Virus Plus Anti Spyware Which I uninstalled and reinstalled to try and rectify the problem but to no avail.

From an HP owner to another!!
May 7, 2009 2:22AM PDT

Same problem here also. I get the impression that the problem lies in the battle of updates from windows and roxio. The problem arose on the computer after reinstalling the original software on a now more upto date computer. I do remember roxio had an update to "Easy Media Creator 9" which is the only Roxio software on the computer. Included in it is the talked about software "Drag to Disc". The latest update is 9.1 and appartently you may need to go to the site to download as the software update may not recognize the available update.

Hope this helps.

For most of us we simply uninstall DLA. If this is not your issue, make a new post describing the issue.
