General discussion

drive not available, contents not visisble, antivirus

Oct 1, 2004 8:09AM PDT

I have googled and surfed and finally got close to a solution at the Symantec web site, but it still did not work. Here is the problem.

Running Windows XP SP2. My floppy drive and cd-rom contents will not show up although the icons for the drives are there.

This is a problem that seems to have been identified by Symantec as related to their Norton Antivirus software. When NAV is DISABLED, the problem goes away, but you have to restart the machine with Antivirus dissabled. The steps they recommend to solve the problem do not work. But they give no other advice. Running my computer without antivirus software is not a good idea.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a real solution?

Thanks
