Dreamweaver - External Links?

by mohitshewaramani / November 5, 2005 3:25 PM PST

Hi,
This is probably a stupid question, but I am new to Dreamweaver and am teaching myself by clicking around here and there.
One thing I am stuck on is linking to external web sites. I successfully built a website with perfect linking within the website. However, if I highlight a phrase, right click it, click ''Make Link,'' and put in the URL of a webpage in the URL section, it just automatically makes it a file in the site folder.
Can somebody please help me figure out how to link to external webpages in Dreamweaver? Thanks!

External Links in Dreamweaver
by tjplaw40 / November 15, 2005 12:16 AM PST

Hello

On the page you are editing, click on properties
At the bottom of the page you should see
"Link" place the entire URL there, then set it to blank.

Why Blank, when someone clicks the link, the page opens in a new browser window, the visitor will have to close the page, this will bring the visitor back to your website.

The right click feature and Make Link will point to files or pages within the site root or site files and not to external links.

Hope this helps.

Image Mapping - external links
by pingpaul / August 31, 2009 12:12 PM PDT

In an image map, I have 2 links:

These links work when pasted in a browser. They do not work when pasted in the link pane of the map form.

Maddenly, a third link does work. The only difference in these links is that the link that works has www. at the head of the link.

Suggestions?

It's proper name is the Property Inspector. It is located at the bottom of the screen in Dreamweaver MX.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
