Dream Tech

by MacHugger / January 16, 2006 3:06 PM PST

Since some have been disappointed with what we've seen so far this year in tech, I'm curious to hear what tech you think we're overdue for in the year 2006.

WET WIRING is my ultimate dream tech. I want to be able to THINK a query to the internet and have the data overlay on my retinal inserts.

But, to bring my wish of tech much closer than 3 or 4 decades away, I'd be happy seeing more progress in high-res, AFFORDABLE, 3D glasses of some sort. I should be able to tool around the World of Warcraft in three dimensions. The data is there. Let me have at it!

sadly, I haven't played World of Warcraft in months. Last August, I just realized that I wasted countless hours of my life in a virtual world grinding and leveling when I should have been finishing scripts and treatments. So, I abandoned my engineering skill, signed up for enchanting, disenchanted all of my sick, powerful equipment, mailed the shards to my guildies, destroyed my level 60 character, logged off and removed any trace of it from every computer I own.

But, I feel it beckoning me every day. Must... not... give... in...

What I want

Universal wireless superspeed broadband. A little ephemeral I know, but just think of the applications. You can have devices freed from functionality and able to access any data anywhere.

You pick your devices based on where you use them not what they can do. So I have a desktop unit, a mobile a unit, a midsize unit, etc... and they all can do everything over universal wireless high speed.

What I REALLY want

Is my own super duper DNA gene spliceing kit and my own cloneing contaiment field so I can make my own look-a-like Nicloe Kidman... but then I guess I would also have to stalk her to get a hair or something to get the DNA.

But I want gene's PRE Tom Cruise, before she was tainted ;-).

So I guess.. I want a way-back machine (sans Mr.Peabody) first... THEN the DNA kit

LOL. I seriously doubt Tom ever "tainted" Nicole, so you're safe.

My former roommate always used to say he can't wait until the holodeck is real. He plans to take a year off and "spend time" with every James Bond girl that ever lived when they were in their prime. Happy
