I hate to bump up my own post like this, but I need an answer to this in a hurry before I miss an oppurtunity to score a couple good speakers for extremely cheap. Is it possible to upgrade your speakers in a HTiB like the sony dream systems where there isn't a true receiver present or will this mess up the system itself? Thanks for any help
Unfortunetly, I purchases a dream system a little over a year ago, and besides the fact that it has never overwhelmed me, it has worked decently in the room it was bought for being roughtly 12x8. I have since moved into a larger apartment and now the weakness of this system really shows through. My question is how well it would work to add bigger front/rear speakers to the set up and just run them through the existing receiver/dvd/sacd player that came in the system. I believe the manual actually advices against this, but I need a cheap solution here as my savings are going to the purchase of a larger television for the same room. And answers or suggestions would be welcomed.
