dreaded error 721

I have a fujitsu siemens 2,4mz computer with a petium4 cpu 700mb ram, operates windowsXP SP3. I have installed a sapphire 9550/1050 graphics card (ATI)I did have problems relating to installing latest update drivers, my computer motherboard is 4AGP apparently the latest drivers are not really geared to this connection. This problem was overcome. By reinstalling earlier drivers. However a problem remains, on the completion of start-up or restart my screen crashes, and I loose my display, this slowly restores but I have to go into display to restore my desktop. I have been told the problem can be laid at the door of the catalyst control centre. I cannot find AMD tech advise (support centre) on their useless "new" set up, you keep being shunted from pillar to post) so can I operate my graphics with out CCC? I am hoping someone may have a fix without having to strip ATI off and reinstall, it was a bloody nuisance last time!! But any ideas (PLEASE) very welcome. Dave
