Downloading vs Internet Speed?

Oct 23, 2004 9:00AM PDT

Hello, I hope somebody can help me with this...
I have a CNet wireless pc card 11Mbps. I am currently downloading movies with BitComet and eMule at the combined speed of 25kb/s, and uploading at 10kb/s. My connection shows very good and speed 11.0Mbps. But the internet surfing is very slow. Have to wait and wait for a new site to be completed. It didn't used to be like this, and others in the building don't have the same problem. And I mean, when it says 11.0 and very good connection, why is it still so slow in practice?

Hope I can ask one more question.. My initial problem and the reason I bought the CNet card was that my built in Intel(Pro)/Wireless 2200BG card stopped working after I had to use the recovery CD for Windows xp pro and reinstall the drivers and utilities. It worked just before I did this. I have talked to people on my support service and tried lots of things, like remove and reinstall the driver, but when I push the button on my laptop that is supposed to switch the card on, it won't even start to search for a connection. It is completely dead. As this happened in connection with the windows recovery, I can't but believe that it must have something to do with that. Am thankful for any suggestion...

First of all, it is a possibility of the Recovery CD and drivers installation... (it also possible that your built in card didn't broken)

As for CNET card, I thing this forum is not CNET product support.

As for Slow Internet, Have you try browsing the internet while you are NOT downloading?

First of all, thanks for answering. I used the recovery cd and driver cd from the producer: fujitsusiemens. Just bought it a few weeks ago, so should be the newest versions. Version I found on the internet was from 2003, I think. Now I have done this: "unhacked" my max.simultanous connection attempts from 50 back to 10. And closed eMule. This made the surfing speed a lot better. Yes, my card may be broken. Do you think it was a coincidence that it happened in connection with recovery of windows? Sorry, I was wondering if the product brand CNet had anything to do with this site...
