What type of internet connection do you have?

Which operating system are you using?

Please be a little clearer about your question.. Are you having problems downloading files? Is that it? If so, please give us the EXACT error messages you're seeing.

Or are you having problems with the Avast antivirus program?

Can you provide us with links to the programs you're trying to download?

Hope this helps and let us know more.

EX ACT Error Messages Are Needed...

...but there are a couple of possibilities. The errors you are receiving indicate the downloaded file isn't downloading correctly. First, please try downloading Ad-Aware 2007 from the link below:

http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2007-Free/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5

If that doesn't get it done, then use a friend or neighbor's computer to download the file, then burn it to a CD and install the program on your computer using the CD.

Since you didn't tell us which firewall you have installed, I'll assume that you have a firewall in addition to the one that Windows XP SP2 already includes.. Make sure that only ONE firewall is operational by opening the Control Panel-Windows Firewall icon and turn the Windows Firewall off.. Once again, that's assuming you have another one running.

Hope this helps.

In my search I've read you should turn off the security ,anti virus and firewall.

Did you remove the old version first, not sure if it will make a difference.

Is the error message How do I resolve the "Error 1722" problem?
