downloading pdf files

Nov 7, 2005 11:26AM PST

I have just installed adobe reader 7, and tried to download a pdf file, all seemed to go well and when it finished I could look at the file and read it. However where do I find this download so that i can print it out. I tried a search in windows xp home no result, and also a search in adobe 7 itself with again no result.

thank you

When you have the file open in Adobe there should be a print button in the top left of the reader tool bar.

If you right click the link to the file in the browser window, you usually can select the option to Save Target As or Save Link As. When you click that option and the save window opens, you will see the filename. If the filename ends in ''.pdf'', then save it to wherever you wish.

Sometimes whan you try to right-click and Save the file, you get a link to a file or script. In that case, just click on the link and it will load in a browser window. When it is finished loading in the browser window, click File > Save as. After you save it, you can print it anytime you want...or just print it from the browser window.

Jean, before printing go to File/Page Setup just in case your pdf file is an 11"x17" size or larger. Reduce the image to fit to your printer. The other info from everyone is correct and good info for you to follow.

I use ver. 6x for now. It seems when you fully gotten the webpages that the reader .PDF file is present, you can hit the Adobe "print" button and it will start printing. However, I like to use the "save" button first, it will copy the .PDF file, a good safeguard in case something amiss happens when printing, you still got the actual file to refer to, rather going back to the website, etc.. You should preset the .PDF downloads to a known directory , I believe the default is "my documents" folder.

Jean, If the pdf has a photo image and you want to copy that image from the pdf file, get the image to fill the screen and take a print screen shot in PC. Open in Paint and rename. The file will be low resolution, yet a large image.
With a Macintosh, press and hold down the Apple and the shift keys, click on the numeral 4 key. Take your mouse and draw a marque over the image. You will hear a camera clicking sound. Same as a screen shot or print screen. The image will be on your desktop or in your hard drive.
Mac OS 9 in the hard drive as a picture file. OSX will be as a Tiff or a pdf file to your desktop. 70 dpi. low res and a large image.
Kind of useful to use.
Want to do more with Adobe Acrobat? Purchase Adobe Acrobat software. Not that expensive. Very useful to have.
