Downloading one's own pictures to the UN40B7000

by mariohummer / December 29, 2009 8:49 AM PST

Hi,

I've tried to download pictures that are my own to my LED TV unsuccessfully. I created a directory 'Galery' in a FAT-16 USB pen drive and downloaded jpg images to 2 sub-directories under it.

Media Play will play the slide shows w/o a problem. Content Library will list the USB drive but will not download anything to the TV. The TV User's Guide is scant about all this.

Any pointers appreciated. My 'Galery' directory was not the only one in the USB drive, so I don't know if that's the problem. Would the subdirectories under it be a problem as well?

Thanks,

Mario

mariohummer,

The content library is for pre-installed (or downloadable) galleries only. Whatever the widget manufacturer makes available for that feature is what is available.

If you want to create your own slide show, you can make one and play it on Media Play.

Re: how about using USB HDDs?

HD_Tech,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

On the same subject, I have also tried to show my pics on the TV by attaching either a small Lacie USB hard drive or a Lacie large, externally powered hard drive, but without success. Neither was recognized by the TV.

Is there anything special that needs to be done for external HDDs to be recognized or the TV will only recognize USB pen drives?

Thanks,

MarioHummer

mariohummer,

MSC class devices like pendrives are supported. There are some reports of external hard-drives working, although they are not all officially supported. I would recommend trying different format options as well, and making sure that your file formats are supported in the chart listed in the manual.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
