Bad first: as a musician, I am not too prevy to the fact that people can just find your music, download it, and enjoy it, without even so much as paying the artist 1 penny for their efforts. There is a lot of time, effort and money that go into a song/Disc from the artist and in some cases its their only means of making money (if they are fortunate enough).
Now the good: As a mucic lover I have been introduced to bands (through downloading) that I may not have known if I hadn't searched databases online. So, therefore, when they come to town to play in my local venue, I may not have gone to the show not knowing who they are. I think downloading is not much different then back in the day of albums, you could very easily record an album to Cassette and share with people that way. But, surely its not "Digital out of the studio" quality, but you got the likeness. I personally am a collector so having the disc with the J-card and all marketting items that come with CD's are important to have. You don't get that through downloading.
Conclusion: After weighing in all the facts, I am 75/25 (75% against) downloading music. After all, I am a musician first and if you want to have my music, unless your my friend or family: I would expect you to pay for it. (artist name not to be revealed at this time)
so, what do you think about downloading music? are you against it? or not? and why?
give counter and counterclaims about this topic.
thanks!
