downloading Internet exporer

by rwart / January 10, 2010 3:13 AM PST

I recently had to do a recovery on my computer. Without knowing, it went back too far and I've lost my latest version. In trying to download the newer Explorer, it keeps giving a message of missing file needed for start point. Can anybody help me ?

Not unless you help us a little. Like, for example, giving us the EXACT ERROR MESSAGE. As well as telling us the things you've tried after typing that message into Google and why those don't seem to be working.

Hi...... thank you for responding. I have windows XP and when I did the recovery I had to use my cd to install again. What happened was it erased all my updates and put me back to when I first purchased the computer.... it is XP with service pack 1 / and early internet explorer.
I actually get many different error messages when I try to download the upgrades. for IE it tells me files missing in dynamic link library.dll
and then states it can't find a starting point. I've tried to download programs to fix handling downloads such as autodownload but it also will not download. I've tried to download WinXP w/ service pk 2 and even 3 but still can't get the download to finish. Some are related to only having service pak 1. also when recovery was going...It never asked for any additional disc. I have 7 and used 1

I can't even get online chat to work and calling HP did no good. They won't talk about my computer because it's out of date to them.
So I feel lost and stuck with a big mess on my hands. I can't afford to go out and buy a new computer. I was getting hang error messages and my system was very slow so that's why I wanted to try recovery but made a major mistake by not choosing a different date to go back to.
