Dec 6, 2004 1:45AM PST

I just check my dsl bandwith speed,it is at dsl 568 kps.
How come when I download from a site such as emule, the download speeds are at less than 20kps? I'm only running this program?
I'm downloading no more than 5 downloads at a time?
My pc is 170ghz,632mb xp home.. thanks

phredman,

Lots of trash gets placed on your system using P2P Networks. And/or its your ISP service, some will limit the overall amount of bandwidth you are allowed.

Also you are taking away our access to the Internet by hogging bandwidth with your swaping and making our systems vunerable to attack as virus writers use P2P Networks to spread their trash.

Phred, It Involves Upload and Download Speed and Limits

For these types of issues, it's best if you contact the P2P program supplier for support. A search of Google for your issue turns up a fair number of 'hits'. In eMule's case, there are limits placed on users based on their credit and based on their programs settings. The bandwidth ability of both sender and receiver are at issue. Here is a link that might help. After clicking on the link and reading the original post, scroll to the lower part of the page for the rest of the discussion.

Hope this helps.

Your speed may be 568, but what is the sending speed? You can only receive at the speed the sender sends at.
