Downloading file onto forum thread ???

iam looking for any info on how to download pictures or zip files or any other type of file to attach to new thread or post on web forum.Ive gotten asfar ashow to upload file from url.Iam very very new at computer and will need guidance in very simple terms Thank you!!!TrevorM
