Downloading DVD's to PC for Use on MP3 Player

I have quite a few Movies that I would like to be able to put on my MP3 Player. I have ordered a Creative Zen Vision:M which will be delivered this weekend and have downloaded and read the user's manual which has not helped me with my question. Is it possible for me to download my own movie DVDs to my PC then put them on my MP3 player? Is this the normal sequence for downloading my own audio or video material to my player? Is the software provided by Creative sufficient to do this?

Thank you

Yes, but...

The only catch here is whether or not the DVDs are copy protected. If they are then you cannot copy (technically or legally) the movies to your hard drive for transfer to the MP3 player. As long as they are not protected then you can rip (download is only used when acquiring content from the internet; rip is when you copy it from a CD or DVD) the movie to your hard drive and then copy it over to the Zen Vision M...that is indeed the standard method. Note, however, that the included software from Creative only enables you to rip CDs so you will have to look to third-party options to rip the DVDs, with a list of options being found here.

Hope this helps,
John

Two things...

First, you really should create a new thread on the subject to keep the two discussions separate. When you do, be sure to include the make/model of MP3 player as well as the version of Windows that you're running.

Are there any sites on the internet where I can pay a fee to buy a current movie to download on my Creative Zen Vision:M or download to my pc then copy to my player?
