Resolved Question

Downloading a word processor

Aug 11, 2012 2:06AM PDT

I have downloaded a number of programs from C/Net and never had a problem both downloading or scanning with AVG free, or using for that matter.

I was looking for a different word processor so I tried to download Office Suite X AVG would not let me, I the tried Open Office again AVG would not let me, but it did allow Oxygen Office & Libo 3.6.0 it just went from one warning menu to another.

I have never found unclean programs on C/Net so can any body say what is happening.

The CNET download wrapper may have PUPs.

PUP = possibly unwanted programs.

It's been discussed a lot but if you don't want those you use the DIRECT DOWNLOAD LINK.

About OPEN OFFICE. Skip that and get the newer LIBRE OFFICE.

What Bob was telling you ...

is that AVG is "protecting" you from "possibly unwanted programs" and that to avoid such warnings YOU, the user, need to customize your preferences or settings in AVG.

Until those settings are adjusted by you, you will continue to get the warnings every time you try a download AVG suspects you might not really want.
