Resolved Question

Downloaded wrong item

Oct 20, 2011 11:14PM PDT

Sadly I did not read the system requirements before purchasing Norton360. My credit card was charged and I have a product that I cannot use on my operating system (Windows Server200Cool.

Is there any way I could get refunded for this purchase? I have not used the activation key or anything. I am at your mercy...

CNET offers only the link. You didn't pay CNET. Probably you paid Symantec. Check your creditcard specification to be sure. Then contact them for a refund.

that was my first thought too

yep - I contacted Norton first and then they sent me to CNet for the refund (frustrating). My cc transaction reads "TLPY.CO*NORTON 360 V TRI 10/10TLPY.CO*N" $79.99

so as you stated - this certainly looks like it comes directly from Norton. I can try once again to contact them...

Thanks for the help - I've opened a helpdesk ticket with Symantec. We'll see what they come back with. I suppose, worst case I could try to sell the product key on Ebay.

Answer
Contact TrialPay...

The TLPY.CO listing on your credit card does not refer to a website, but rather the company TrialPay. CNET has a partnership with TrialPay such that, on CNET Downloads, there are links to TrialPay to purchase select products (when the manufacturer/developer chooses to participate). And TrialPay uses the CNET logo and general website look on the order form if CNET referred you. The logo and order form appearance has led some to assume CNET sold the software, but all concerns regarding the sale itself must be addressed to TrialPay - neither CNET nor Symantec can look up order information, provide refunds, etc.

Good luck.
John
