General discussion

downloaded two programs and it still says to update

Sep 20, 2009 2:25AM PDT

Hello I downloaded TT last night and did scan of course, said I got 6 updates so I did two of them that I use daily, this morning I crank up the puter and ran scans again. It still says the same 6 are out of date with updates available including the two I updated last night. So went to their respective sites and they report that I have the latest updates.
So is this a common problem or a bug maybe?

Same problem with SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition
Sep 20, 2009 5:59AM PDT

I had the same problem happen with the above program and I just insitalled the TechTracker, so looks like the problem must be with it, not the programs themselves, but I can find where to report the problem to except for here. But at least I found this post so I know what the problem is. Hopefully C-Net will find out and fix the problem from the forum posts. I cant believe it was just the two of us.

Thank you for using CNET TechTracker app. I read that you did a scan after updating, however, I'd ask that you scan again and then refresh your My Software tab scan results page. If that doesn't clear up the issue, we need to get Technical Support involved. To do so, click on your TechTracker icon in the taskbar menu and select Support Center or use this URL here, http://cnet.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/cnet.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1946.

Not updating scan results; reports software that's not there
Nov 9, 2009 10:01AM PST

This is obviously not an isolated problem--it is happening in my case with 7 plus programs: Advanced System Care Free, Mozilla Firefox, Glary Utilities, Adobe Reader, Ad-Aware Free Anti-Malware, Malwarebytes Anti-Nalware (free), and Vuze; plus it says I have MS Office Outlook 2003 which I do not have and never have had since building this puter. I am running XP Pro SP3 on AMD dual-core 7750 x2 if that matters. I have a theory yet to be tested, that TechTracker either writes scan results the first time and then recycles them or else it won't allow another scan to be performed for a certain period of time. Either one should be easy to fix. By the way, it should also be easy to make it refresh the page rather than having someone in a forum tell us to, but it didn't work anyway. I look forward to a new version so I can go back to using it, since it otherwise is a good idea, although it's of little use to me for now.

I have similar result that updated SW is not reported as such. I find that my last scan was 11/12 and today is 11/14. How do I initiate a new scan to see if updates after 11/12 are identified?
I am using Mac OS 10.5.7.

Conducting a manual scan with Mac TechTracker app

Thanks for using TechTracker. Go to your System Preferences and click on the CNET TechTracker icon down at the bottom in the "Other" section. Under the "Schedule Check" tab click on "Check Now". Once the scan is complete a pane with out of date results will show. Click on "Open Page" to go to your TechTracker app home page with more detailed information.
