Sorry, but downloading full-quality DV via Firewire is only a 1:1 process. Once you get video into a highly compressed state, like MPEG files, you can transfer these like most any other computer file. Full-quality video just takes too much bandwidth and processing power. Even $100,000 Avid Symphony editing systems, or Avid Nitris or any other high-end broadcast level editing platform can also only digitize at a 1:1 rate for full-quality video.
I have my Panasonic connected to my iMac using a firewire connection. But the transfer rate is 1:1... 55 minutes of video taking 55 minutes to download. Is that normal? I assumed firewire connection would speed that process. Am I doing something wrong?
