download issues

I have tried to download something and when the download starts I get an error messages: I don't have premission to download, or system cant fine path, file etc. I have enabled all the necessary option in my tools. Anyone have a clue?

which Download.com software you are attempting to download? We will need the URL web address so we can try.

Also details of your system. Which OS, what browser are you using, and what firewall and anti-virus.

SAME PROBLEM

Win xp sp3 firefox 3.6 AVAST ANTIVIRUS I choose "Download Now" any program, wait for option box "save file" nothing. Been using site for years never had a problem.
Can download from any other site. Looks like others have same problem.

If so, it works for me using Firefox 3.6.13, I saved the setup file to my Desktop.

Does this work in any other browsers? If not, what happens?

Does your Firefox have any add-ons that may be preventing this download. eg NoScript, AdBlock Plus, or others?

What anti-virus and firewall are you using now, and what, if any, other security utilities?

Same Problem Here

Just got a new Win 7 computer and can not download any files from Cnet using Explorer of Firefox.
It just keeps repainting the download page and doesn't give you the save or run window.
I've stopped virus software, shut down Firewall and looked everywhere else where it might restrict downloading. I am also using the administrator user profile. I can download the exact same file on my WinXP machine. Downloads from other sites seem to be fine. Any ideas?

It is a known issue on CNET's end, and there's a sticky ('read me') thread on the issue: http://forums.cnet.com/7723-12543_102-518175.html where the Download engineering team notes they're looking into it. Hopefully it is something that can be resolved soon, as users are randomly affected.

One takeaway: Those who try using Google Chrome instead of Internet Explorer/Firefox usually have success, though for reasons unknown.
