Download & Installation Troubleshooting Help

by CelticRich / November 5, 2010 11:10 PM PDT

VISTA sp2 32 with updates, F-Secure Firewall Anti-virus.

I have recently had problems installing downloaded software. The installer just hangs and freezes this started 5 days ago. I have always been able to download and install from CNET before. This problem alos affests Microsoft Fix-it downloads. (CNET download affected was Wise Registry Cleaner). Problems started after I downloaded and installed revo uninstaller to uninstall PC Tool 8 anti virus which hung on installation.

I can only guess that its an issue with my Firewall, and Virus protection F-Secure (with Defender, Malawarebytes). But I have always downloaded and installed from CNET before.

Any Help and Asssitance, links would be greatly appreciated.
Rich

Tried that, Used Safe Boot and programs worked
by CelticRich / November 8, 2010 12:31 AM PST

Hi thanks for responding. I have done the sytem restore thing it did not help.

I managed to get the downloaded programs to install and start in safe boot. So I beleive the problem has to do with my active F-Secure anti virus settings (Firewall, Application control, Deep Guard).

So I have managed to get Wise Registry Cleaner to run, Prev3 to run. I need to find a nice little safe program on CNET to download and run to test my new settings out. Something simple that does nothing.

So i beleive the solution has somethiing to do with my anti-virus software.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
