Resolved Question

download Google Chrome

by billie90 / August 14, 2014 11:12 PM PDT

I uninstalled Google chrome because lately I thought it was running slow. It uninstalled from my machine. I then tried to re-install it from the Google site.
I agree to their provisions. It starts to download and then it just runs and runs and runs. The first time the little circle ran for over two hours until I turned my machine off. I tried it again and it jus t keeps on running and running and running and it does not install. Why is this happening? Last time it ran for three hours. How could a program take that long to download?
How do I install Google chrome on my machine again?

Download and install is 2 steps:
1. Download the setup program and store it somewhere on your hard disk, or on a USB-stick if you download it on another PC.
2. Run the setup program to install the actual program.
Which of the 2 fails?

By the way, what program do you use to download the setup file if Chrome is uninstalled?

It may not be you. A few days ago we hit what's often referred to as 512K Day among network admins/engineers. Kind of a long story short is that the Internet surpassed an arbitrary size that is set in a lot of networking equipment and now it happens that some people are unable to get to large portions of the Internet or if they are, it's significantly slower.

This is similar to things like Y2K, except no one was making much effort to fix the problem like they did Y2K. One of the next fun arbitrary limits will hit sometime around 2034 when the way computers keep time will break down if it hasn't been fixed by then.

All you can really do is keep trying. As this problem gets worse day by day, the pressure will mount on companies to fix the problem. It could also be one of a hundred other possibilities which will eventually resolve themselves. Until then, maybe try Firefox as an alternative if you're otherwise stuck using Internet Explorer.

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
