download folder

I was wondering if I can delete all the stuff in the my download folder. It has lots of junk that has been downloaded by my son from the net that no one uses. I would like to clean out lots of junk from the computer but not sure where to began. Thank you for you help

If these files are all .exe or .zip files and they are nothing more than the program installer files which most folks download to their "Download" folder, then, YES, you can safely delete those particular files. BUT, if you think you might need them again, make sure to back them up to a CD. In addition, if you no longer need those programs, uninstall them from the "Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs" section first.

On the other hand, if this is the "Downloaded Program Files" folder in the "Windows" folder, then those files are various ACtive X installations that will need to be re-downloaded if you ever need them again.
