downgrading from XP

by theandy83 / May 4, 2006 9:30 PM PDT

about 3 months ago i installed xp on my computer and i am unhappy with the results.
i made the mistake to install it on a pentium MMX 200mhz with only 128 RAM.
i want to downgrade to winME or maybe even Win98 se so i will have more memory available to me as i have trouble recording and listenning to music.
the problem is that when i try to install 98 it says it cannot be installed from my operating system please install it in DOS. I DONT HAVE DOS! ITS WINDOWS XP! so i tryed installing ME and it said i could not install it in windows 2000( i understand that xp and 2000 are both ntfs based unlike the other windows sytems).
does anyone please know how to downgrade to ME or 98 se. i cant stand the slowness of my pc.

Microsoft does not support the 'downgrading' of Windows, only the upgrading. Thus, you can not simply install Windows 95/98/ME over XP, or even XP Home over XP Pro. What you have to do is wipe the drive clean (KillDisk is a good solution)), expelling Windows XP (and ALL of your files, so make sure you back them up first), and enabling you to then install the older OS from scratch.

Hope this helps,

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
