what's the brand and model of your computer?

If u can find the previous firmware u can.

Currently i have a t5026 and recently emachines alerted me of a firmware update for my dvd burner. I downloaded it but failed so installed it again then it said download ok. But when i tried to use the drive, it did not read the disc. However, it still opens and closes. I wish i could find the old firmware update so i can get it working it again.

Do u have a t5026 and is having a problem?

try going to the manufacturer of the drive website. Maybe they have old firmware versions.

So if I can find the earlier firmwares, I can just use that, and my burner will be downgraded?

Probably. But its pretty hard to find old versions of firmware as most of the time it is only available at the manufacturers website and they ususally dont have old firmware versions available.

U should call the manufacturer and ask them for more info on firmware and y it didnt work

I have the firmware flashing utility for a older version already on my hard drive, so I guess I'm good to go.
