Dowload large file w/dial up access

by 70441.2227 / May 21, 2006 12:20 PM PDT

Hi,
I have tried to download a very large file three times. I have a dialup connection and this is disrupting my computer usage(I try not to use my computer while I am downloading). I have lost my connection each time leaving a unfinished dowlaod file. Is there a way or program to continue the dowload from where it left off?

Thanks,
Bob

Download managers...
by John.Wilkinson / May 21, 2006 3:21 PM PDT

Hey again, Bob,

When I had dial-up, download managers became my best friends, allowing me to pause a download, continue a download after the connection was lost, and speed up the download by making multiple connections for maximum efficiency. I used to use FlashGet, but it now comes packed with adware, so I recommend the free download manager Free Download Manager. It is simply named and simply designed, but it gets the job done with features you wouldn't expect from a free product. You'll no longer have to worry about dropped connections or large downloads, and will be able to surf the net or perform other tasks while downloading without worry.

Enjoy.
John

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
