Cartoonist Doug Marlette Killed in Crash
Doug Marlette, the North Carolina-born cartoonist who won a Pulitzer Prize and created the popular strip ``Kudzu,'' was killed in a car accident Tuesday morning in Mississippi, authorities said. He was 57.

I enjoyed his cartoons (both editorial and otherwise) over the years. IIRC the preacher in Kudzu was modeled very loosely on Will Campbell, who has enjoyed quite an interesting career.

until last night. He drew one of my favorites, the road rage one.

I don't remember the 'road rage' cartoon ...

Do you know if it is posted anywhere online?

You'll probably find it on a site eulogizing him;

it's well-known. Lehrer Report showed it briefly, with others, as the voice under recapped his history.

In case you don't find it, here's the gist. SPOILER ALERT

Man and woman in a car on the freeway. Man driving, woman holds an automatic rifle. Man says, I'm going to pass the Toyota, Martha. Cover me.'
It came out when there had been several incidents nationwide.

Had to look him up

and for others who'd not seen his comics here's Kudzu and some others as well. Perhaps a laugh or chuckle isn't a bad tribute.

uncontrolled like the plant. I wasn't often in a town with a paper that carried itm but I recall the humor was relaxed and people-oriented, not gag-oriented.

There are several gazillion editorial cartoonists in the US, all but a few minimally talented. If he had a Pulitzer, he was as good as any of the good ones.
