Tell more.

1. Is this a limited user account?

2. Was there a recent malware or other infection?

3. Did you turn off the antivirus during the install?

4. Do other things fail to install?

Can you install the Visual C++ runtime ("redistributable package") yourself? Choose the one you need from Note the difference between x86 (32-bit OS) en x64 (64 bit OS).

You might have to ask their support what version you need to install, but I'd start with the latest one, that's the 2010 version.

If still install fails also, it clearly is an OS problem, not a doubletwist problem. If it succeeds, it might solve your issue, if the doubletwist install doesn't try to install it if it finds it already installed. Worth a try.
