Question

Dots or periods traveling across the URL bar

Older (4 yrs) HP p2-1334 Desktop w/ wired mouse and keyboard/ windows 10 / Chrome
Hi there. When I click on [any] URL and start typing, a dot appears before the letters. Sometimes when I click there, before typing, a whole line of dots starts traveling across and continues on unless I catch it and delete it. This happened frequently a few months before I upgraded to windows 10 (from 8.1), then it stopped. That was two months ago. But two days ago I opened my pc to clean the dust out (been doing this for several years and am very careful not to touch the board ) and then it started to happen again shortly after startup. Don’t know if this is a coincidence. It was way overdue for cleaning even before upgrade) and had a couple of good sized dust balls on the board. I had lost my sound and after trying all the obvious, I cleaned it and then the sound was restored. Don’t know if that was coincidence either. I have also run virus checks both then and now. Ran a check on the mouse and it shows no problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
