What setup (what OS)?

In reply to: dos

And: how long does it hang?
And: some modern mobo's don't even support Windows 98 anymore. So it's not unlikely a Windows 95 setup, for example, may hang. Try installing XP.

his system is Windows 98's era, so Win95 support should be assumed...

I'd venture that its either checking the memory (does it count up from 0 fairly quickly on screen?) checking the disks for faults (is the screen blue with yellow, red, or pink progress bars?) or its hit an exception fault in POST (do you get a "Press F# to proceed"?)

thanks
for looking at this for me
i got a bit further down the line on this matter and it s looking like i need an up to date startup disc coz i now get
on the screen this wen i start putting win me on
"error su995638 invalid command option specified" "please check the command line and try again" "or type setup/?"
"for help and setup options" (ox13ae)

went into the help and only thing that make sence to me is that my startup disc is old ??
thanks again fof looking
