1.) What do you mean by "pre-illegal Napster?" Napster is now legal, but any/all copyrighted music downloaded using Napster previous to that juncture was/is illegal.
2.) When your old computer passed away, what exactly happened? It's possible the hard drive was also affected.
3.) If you click No/Cancel, does the drive still appear in My Computer (or even Disk Management)? If the former is a yes, can you right-click it and choose to explore?

my acer w/ win98 passed away. i had 5 gigs of pre illegal napster on it.
tried installing hd in my new acer w/ xp . only response was "do you want to format this drive?" NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. bought a ide to usb converter per my acer rep. who said that as a usb it would be recognised as a normal drive but the only response was "do u want to format..."
how can i get my music into my new computer?
