Offer them your broken unit.
I had a first gen Ipod Mini, along with the crappy battery. Recently I was so tired of constantly charging the battery, I purchased a battery replacement kit online. The instructions were pretty good, till I got to the last step. Detatching the motherboard from the clickwheel proved to be more difficult than I thought. I actually pulled the female end of the plug clean off the motherboard. Fubar. Fear and panic set in. Now that my player was toast, what would I relplace it with. Let me state 2 things I am a Chef not an electronics repair person. And my Mini wasn't my first MP3 player. Funny enough I accidentally bought it while I was checking out Ebay for the first time. But that's another story. With my Ipod down, I started the search for a new device. I was pretty sure I didn't want another Ipod for several reasons. I researched online for 3 days. I read a ton of reviews on this site and others. By the 4th day I realized something. It would be hard to beat my Mini. I also had a few accessories for it, the remote control being my favorite, and that there's a ton of accessories for Ipods. I realized that the only thing I actually hated about my Mini was the battery life. I checked EBay and found a site selling refurbished Ipods. I got a 6 gig, my old one was a 4 gig, with a great battery for $147. I must say I couldn't be happier, no problems at all.
