Don't risk those important files - back them up!

by wfairley / November 11, 2006 12:07 AM PST

I've read a lot of discussions regarding how some of the forum's participants are installing Vista on separate disks or partitions where they keep their important files; I'd like to encourage everyone that reads this forum to copy your important files to a safe place. Whether that is an external USB drive (like I do), or DVD's or CD's, or email them to your yahoo or hotmail account - it doesn't matter as long as you find a way to save those files! Vista is somewhat stable, and I've enjoyed working and playing with it, but it is still vulnerable to failure, as is the disk it's running from.

Even if one isn't using Vista, it's very wise to create backup copies of the important files.

I've re-installed Vista several times, and consistently it runs faster and better when I do the clean install on an unpartitioned disk, which forces me to create backup copies of my valuable files, and conveniently allows me to delete the worthless 0's and 1's.

So, please - everyone - create backup copies, while you can. I suggest doing it right now, while you can.
