Question

Don't like my Z3, going to switch, what are your thoughts?

Mar 3, 2015 2:26AM PST

I'm thinking to switching to either a LG G3 or a Samsung Galaxy S5, what are thoughts on this? I'm leaning more to the LG than the Samsung. Any of you got any other phones you think I should consider?

Reasons for disliking my Xperia Z3; it's buggy, laggy at times, frustratingly minimal things which add up and I'm not a big fan of the camera on it

Thanks in advance

Answer
What I'm seeing is folk jump and repeat.
Mar 3, 2015 2:34AM PST

Android is the new Windows. If folk change phones, load up the same apps they usually repeat the experience and issues.

That out of the way be sure to try the phone without adding any apps. Plus disable any you can do without. This won't help the camera.

Tomorrow I'm going off the reservation and looking at the Blu phones you find on Amazon. Ting delivered a GSM SIM so I ordered up a pair of unlocked GSM phones to see what's what.

Blu are fine for backup phones IME

Worth a try from the low price alone. Just don't expect much if you use it as a primary device. Screen/display quality and responsiveness on most I have used is merely 'meh'.

FWIW, I haven't seen one in person yet w/ LTE, although I saw one reviewed last year. Waiting to try one of those at some point in the near future using an Amazon credit I am sitting on Wink

Will write more later.

A BLU BLU Tank II T193 Unlocked GSM Dual-SIM along with their Blu 6.0 HD model arrives tomorrow. The Tank is to replace a phone that has been in the car for years. If it goes like before, it will go for months without being turned on. Ting's rates make this an alternative to a Tracfone (what's there now.)

The Blu 6.0 HD is because the office can't ignore models in the top 20 at Amazon. We have to know if our apps work there. So far we've stuck to Nexus Google, Samsung and not many other android models on our "supported" list.

This is the first time I'm selling a phone due to not liking it. I generally do not like the Sony. One real annoying problem is it becomes incredibly laggy when texting. Like I can type an entire message out, leave it for a minute and it'll still be registering the inputs I put in. No person I've spoken to who owns a G3 or S5 has had this problem.

I've also not liked the camera since the first week so the app thing is a bit redundant.

Good on you, for going for blu phones. I can't get them or it's very hard to acquire them because I'm in the UK, thanks for the valuable input though, Bob.

Mhmm, and the model you just linked is coming from New York which means I'll likely have to pay a fee for p&p and then also rates for goods coming into the country and god knows how long it'll take as well

Not really bothered about dual sim, don't need it. 8MP not really enough for me and the reviews aren't great for the camera, may be a good phone to use but doesn't interest me

There are few over 8MP phones.

Going a bit overboard there with the 20MP camera suggestion there Bob as I didn't mention anything about needing that much, buddy. I think I'm going to go for the G3

Not really, you wrote ". 8MP not really enough for me "

So I went and checked out the camera in your current phone.

Ooohh well done Bob, go you. Funnily enough, if I'm wanting to sell my phone that I have now which is 20 megapixels, I'm clearly not giving a **** about them, am I? Considering the phones I've listed looking at are 13MP & 16MP. Wouldn't it indicate that I don't necessarily care?

I found my old HTC Evo with 8MP camera very good.

It was so good that I traveled with that along for a time.

And someone who writes '8mp is not enough for their needs' truly needs a refresher course on photography/hardware. It's not the megapixel count that really matters, silly.

I can't believe a Z3 would act like that. I'm betting it's the bloatware that comes with it. Also, I saw a couple of forums where people were complaining about a ram problem with sony phones.

There is a poopload of bloatware on the sony, I'll probably rom the phone I get which I'm leaning more to the G3 more than anything

Answer
Samsung Galaxy s5
Apr 9, 2015 2:58AM PDT

Honestly, I am not a phone gadget know it all. BUT I know that everyone around me have either an iPhone or a Galaxy. Putting that thought to it, those are the only 2 phones I know how to use. Embarrassing to say... I would recommend you to purchase a Galaxy s5. It has many great qualities and its actually not that difficult to use. I'd say that I didn't really like Samsung's photo quality, but again I suck at taking pictures so I cant really say much. Samsung Galaxy s5 should also be cheap since the S6 and S6 Edge are out!
