Clickless Mouse Request
by mcls / March 29, 2005 10:26 PM PST

I've been looking too. Clickless mouse unlikely, but clickless software possible. Best I've seen so far is Nib Clickless software, of which I'm trying out the demo. I'm on XP SP2 and so far no problems at all. (You just have to be careful where you stop the mouse after it's clicked for you!). Try these links for a trial. File size is only 700Kb

My laptop has such.

The touchpad/mouse can "clic" silently if I tap the pad.

There are such for desktops...

Clickless Mouse? I Need One Too!
by chefwayner / March 31, 2005 2:17 PM PST

Hey, I have a roommate that sleeps all the time. I don't sleep much, so I'm on the computer to do much work. I don't want to wake the kid. Anybody know of a clickless mouse? A clickless keyboard would be awsome too.

Yes, my optical Logitech was silent....
by John Robie / April 1, 2005 12:31 AM PST

Never really noticed about the sound of a mouse click until my optical Logitech finally after 3 years service started getting slow on the left button, and I switched over to a $10 (on sale) Microsoft optical. The only clicking from it is the center scroll wheel.

Windows Accessibility Tool

If the accessibility tool is installed on your computer you can use the numeric keypad instead of your mouse, and this would be much quieter. You'll have to set it up, though.

Just realized your post was from 2005. Doubt you still have the same mouse but maybe you have another mouse you could recommend?

The click free mod is now widely known.

Just a little surgery required. Links about:

That covers 2 out of the 3 switch types I've seen over the years. The one I couldn't find a writeup was for a model that required less work and an Exacto knife to cut off the clicky sound bits.

Try the above and read:

The Thanko mouse is widely noted but you have to order it. Some reviews are unkind but to get silent, no tactile feedback would be possible.
