Restore disk?
by MarkFlax Forum moderator / September 7, 2006 9:07 PM PDT

Are you mixing up System Restore with a "Reinstall of XP"?

That restore disk you have is most probably HP's way of restoring your computer to its original condition, ie the way you received it. This will delete all of your own files/programs/music/videos, etc.

A System Restore is XP's own utility to go back to a previous date. System Restore can be found in Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.

Have you removed the diisk from the CD drive? If so, can you boot up into Safe Mode? (On boot up press F8 once a second after the BIOS screen disappears). What happens when you try this?

Are you using a CD or a program
by glb613 / September 7, 2006 10:57 PM PDT

found through all programs? The times I've done a complete restore(back to the original configuration), I put disk 1 in the drive and rebooted. You should have some choices including doing a complete or destructive restore.

I've also done a restore on an HP computer using the restore program installed on the hard drive. Both work in similar ways. The big difference is how they are started or accessed.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
