Hello, I've been looking around for several hours trying to find a laptop that suits my needs, and I'm convinced there isn't one out there to do so. My requests don't seem too demanding to me, but here they are. I need something on the smaller side (netbook, thin & slim, mid-size). It has to fit into my flight training bag. I would say the maximum dimensions would be 12"W x 10"H x 2.5"T. It would be nice to have wifi, but I could settle for ethernet connection. It doesn't have to be extremely fast or have a lot of memory or storage, just enough to surf the web at a hotel and maybe throw some music on there and save some documents, etc. Here's the kicker though, all of my training material at school is on DVDs. I can't find anything that small with a DVD optical drive. Also I would like to stay under $500 if at all possible. If you have anything in mind, or any solution to the DVD issue let me know, I'm easier to contact at jones14@siu.edu
Thanks,
Nick

You are hovering into netbook territory which is why you see so many without optical drives. Is there room in your bag for an external drive?
It's pretty tight. I could probably manage to find room in there but the more I shop around the more I am willing to just settle for a larger computer and a separate carrying case. It's super easy to match everything I need in a 15" size. Plus I have really big hands so I think in the end I would be happier with a full size keyboard as well.
