Does the Yamaha RX-V550 a/v Receiver have a PHONO input?

Apr 14, 2006 7:53AM PDT

I'm shopping for a new Stereo a/v receiver and have almost settled on the Yamaha RX-V550 or 540, based on the CNET reviews. However, it is not clear to me if they have PHONO inputs. I use my receiver strictly for music. CD, turntable, radio and internet radio only. No TV or games. My speaker set up is 5.1 and have no intention of going to 7.1.
I would prefer a Sony, for aesthetic qualities (other components are Sony), but they seem to have a poor reputation of late.
Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Radio Shack is not the place to obtain good quality

audio equipment. It's stuff, in my experience, has a high likelihood of poor performance.

You could always add a phono pre-amp if the Yamaha

does not have one. One possible source is eBay if you know what brands you want. I bought a full Nakamichi pre-amp a few years back for this very application.

Another possibility is a new unit. While I do not know what the quality is, I did find this one for sale in the UK. Spend some time looking in Google.
