Well, sometimes ATI manufatures their cards as well.

I dont understand your answer. Does the tuner card that comes with the pc have an fm tuner as well as a tv tuner?

why bother with that response...

People here OWN this machine so I figured they would know. The machine is BRAND NEW and there are NO reviews for it...
If you cant help dont bother replying. Try google yourself...you will find nothing about the tuner card.

(NT) (NT) The answer is most likely NO

yeah, that wasn't a nice response

i didn't even appreciate that and i'm not the original poster, but as for google'ing, most answers in this forum can be googled but that doesn't mean we just say, "oh google it". NO we elaborate on these things, not just post some silly link to google. if you didn't know the answer, why would you post a google link?

Well...

First of all, my answer took alittle more time than just leaving a (NT) response. Like you said people need to learn how to research their own questions and find the answers. Not just go the easy way and ask a question in a forum. I did not in fact, understand the question at hand...

"Does the TV card in the T6522 have fm radio built in?
Just wondering...I know its an ati theatre 550 per emachines ---does anyone also know the brand?"

If "blindside" knows that the tuner is an ATI Theatre 550, then he can easily search the Internet for the specs. That particular tuner does have an FM tuner, after I found out by simply Googleing a search. If he is asking people to varify that the T6522 has that tuner, than he should just say so.

I do not own a T6522, I was responding to the fact that an ATI Theatre 550 does have an FM tuner.

People that regularly post in these forums will not write an essay on "simple" yes and no questions. I would rather spend my time on different questions.

Thank-you

You dont have enough information...
Aug 4, 2005 5:38AM PDT

Well I guess I have to correct you being you responded. The ATI Theater 550 Pro is not a brand of tuner card and they do not "all have an fm tuner"
If YOU did a search on google you would have known that this is a chipset not a specific card. There are many manufacturers that use this chipset in their tuner card and some of them have fm tuners and some dont. E-machines themselves didnt even know the brand of the tuner--they only knew the chipset.
You should really have all your facts straight before you post an unsupportive reply.

I respond to what the question asks...
Aug 4, 2005 7:47AM PDT

Question: Who manufactures ATI All-In-Wonder cards? The answer is ATI. They make both the board and gpu/tuner. So, it is entirely possible that a single manufacturer will make both parts.

I am aware that ATI does not manufacture the board with their chip. However, ATI did specify that their chip features an FM tuner or is compatable with an FM tuner. Why would any board manufacturer would not include this feature? It doesn't make sense to me. Certainly well-known companies will.

"Err...the brand is ATI. According to ATI the ATI Theater 550 Pro has fm radio built in:
http://www.ati.com/products/theater550/features.html (obtained from Google)"- From John Robie's Post

It all comes back to being more specific with your question. You did not mention anything regarding the board the TV tuner is on in your original question. We cannot read your mind.

my original question...
Aug 4, 2005 9:16AM PDT

Was:
a)If the board had a FM tuner
b)what brand was the board

Why would a manufacturer not include the FM tuner if the chip is capable of it?
Perhaps these green slips of paper with dead presidents on them may have something to do with it...

All I am saying is that my question is a legit question that could not be answered by anyone unless they owned the computer. It was not on "google" and emachines themselves didnt even know.
Your reply was what I would expect from a 7 year old.
And I may be selling the 7 year old a bit short...

Tuner does have an FM input
Aug 2, 2005 2:21PM PDT

The Tuner card has two coax inputs. One is for TV and the other is for FM.

It's an ATI-branded board, based (as you already know) on the theater 550 chip.

I haven't used the FM input, so I can't tell you anything more about it.

You ''..know its an ati theatre 550 per emachines..''
I haven't been able to get one single word published from emachine on the T6522. Circuit City doesn't give much info. Jemulho noted back on July 10 that it had a TV Tuner and IR Remote. Gurnblanston noticed it had an ''ATI Theater 550 Pro tv tuner'':
http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-7586-0.html?forumID=68&threadID=116367&messageID=1335752

Err...the brand is ATI. According to ATI the ATI Theater 550 Pro has fm radio built in:
http://www.ati.com/products/theater550/features.html (obtained from Google)

Jemulho has confirmed that the T6522 has a FM input but he has not yet used. Some other brand computers that have a TV Tuner do furnish a FM antenna, and I suppose Emachine doesn't.
