Question

Does Skype Support Remote In?

Nov 25, 2019 12:57PM PST

My 85+ year old father suddenly could not log into his Skype.
He went to skype.com started a chat with support.
The guy immediately remoted into his system.
He didn't fix the issue. He said he would call on the phone, but never did.
Does Skype support remote into systems?
Or was dad scammed?
How do we know? Should he notify his bank?

Thanks for your input.

Only if someone shared credit card or bank info.

Microsoft does charge for support but the scams are so many today that the likelihood it was a scam is very high.

So again, if bank or CC information was given then you take steps.

how did he access the support? if it was from help within skype then it should be good. if from a google search then that would be bad. If he gave any bank info, then contact the bank or at least keep watch on the statements.

Its nearly impossible that skype offers remote support. With online security concerns arising, breaking into someones device is simply unacceptable these days, even if its for a good will. Id highly suggest helping your father to secure his personal data without a delay

I can't find a support option with chat on skype.com. So maybe your father did something else then going there?

Then there's a good chance something nasty is installed on his PC or they downloaded private information.
